Light roast

Ethiopia Yirgacheffe

Bright, floral, citrus-forward. Notes of bergamot, lemon zest, and white tea. Washed process from the Konga cooperative.

Northwind was founded in 2013 by Tom Reyes after seven years as a barista, judge, and trainer in the specialty coffee world. Today we run a 12kg roaster, three cafes, and direct relationships with eighteen farms.

2013

Tom opens Northwind as a single cafe with a 5kg roaster and three coffee origins.

2017

Crossed our first ten direct-trade partnerships. Opened the second cafe.

2021

Upgraded to a dedicated roastery and 12kg Loring. Opened third cafe and wholesale program.

2025

Eighteen direct-trade farms, three cafes, and beans roasted daily within 48 hours of shipping.

Source Direct

We travel to farms, taste with growers, and sign contracts that pay 25% above commodity prices for quality. Every bean is traceable.

Roast Daily

Small batches on a 12kg roaster, controlled by our head roaster. Every batch is cupped before it ships.

Ship & Brew

Beans ship within 48 hours of roasting. Our cafes brew the same beans, prepared by baristas trained in our lab.
